Lutons do Disney 2017: The Trip

We took our first family trip to Disney World last week, and y’all, it was the trip of a lifetime.   We started talking about it September 2016, and officially booked it in December 2016.  I have been reading and plotting, researching and dreaming, praying and planning ever since then, trying to design the best surprise Disney trip for the kids, Scott, and I that I possibly could.  And in one word, the trip was MAGICAL.  I’ll have a second post[Read more]

TGIF…and Headed to Disney!!!

What. a. week.  I know I say that just about every Friday, but WHEW!!!  I mean, let’s have a busy week, plan and pack for our biggest (and only!) vacation of the year, and OH YEAH, let’s throw in a hurricane.  WHAT?! Our week was full of board games, pajamas, praying, movie marathons, vegan banana bread (you’d never know the difference!), choir practice, baseball, softball, list-making, packing, printing, napping, Books with Bammy, errand running, sewing, planning, plotting, and waiting! And[Read more]

Solar Eclipse 2017

We had such a fun afternoon watching the eclipse as a family yesterday!  I checked the kids out of school after Brantley was so sweet and said she wanted to watch the eclipse with her brother and sister.  So we had a little eclipse party in our driveway! We headed outside at about 2:00, knowing that it was going to peak about 2:37.  We spread out a quilt, got out our eclipse-themed snacks, and alternated back and forth on the[Read more]

What Excites Your Kids?

Children can be so gloriously unpredictable.  We can spend so much time and money planning a fun surprise or outing for them, only to elicit a lukewarm reception, but they go bananas over a new bottle of bubble bath.  Sometimes the simplest things to us adults totally blow the minds of our kids!  What a lesson for us, right?  The world can seem to be full of unremarkable things to us but are actually so magical through our childrens’ eyes!  Inspired by this post[Read more]

First Week of School Randoms

Whew!!  TGIF, amiright?  The first week of school is always a beast, even if it was only three days long, haha!  Sharing a few random thoughts today after a successful week back to school. The kids had an awesome first day of school.  They met their sweet teachers on Tuesday night, and any apprehension was washed away and just replaced with excitement!  Scott and I walked them into their classes on Wednesday, and each of them went in, no problem,[Read more]

The Best Things About Summer 2017

Today is the last day of summer, and I’m taking it harder than I had expected.  In years past, I have been a little sad, but ready for the kids to go back to school.  This year, I’m just sad!  I think it’s partially the fact that this summer really was so short, also that Ben will be going to Pre-K at the elementary school with the girls, and partially the fact that I feel like the kids have really grown[Read more]

OMG I’m So Glad It’s Friday

Happy Friday, friends!  It has been a loooooooong week, and I am so glad that the weekend is THISCLOSE!  We have had a super quiet house this week, since the kids have been at my parents house, and we really have missed them so much!  I know they had a BIG time with Bammy and PaDaddy, but I am so anxious to see them today! Scott and I got A LOT of work done this week, we had a new team[Read more]

Happy Friday from Nashville!

Happy Friday, friends, and Greetings from Nashville!  Scott has a work conference here in the Music City this weekend, and the kids and I were really excited to tag along.  We got into town yesterday afternoon, and wasted no time in hitting up a barbeque joint, then walked around the city a bit, and took over the hotel pool!  The kids were most excited about just staying at the hotel!  Only Brantley has ever stayed in a hotel with us[Read more]

BE AWARE.

It was this past Friday.  I took all three kids shopping with me (something I typically don’t do much of- I run errands while Scott’s working from home so I can leave them with him), as we headed to WalMart to get supplies and food for the girls’ birthday party.  We shopped through the produce and baked goods, moved back to the snacks, and over to the party section. I noticed him in the grocery aisles, the first time I[Read more]

Brantley & Grayson’s Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter’s Tea Party

On Saturday, we were so happy to celebrate Brantley and Grayson’s birthdays at our very favorite little local bookstore, The Story Shop in Monroe. I’ve talked about their store before, and how it is just a child’s daydream come to life.  And yes, their shop is wonderful, but their event space… …it’s incredible!  We decided to have an Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter’s Tea Party for the girls’ birthday.  Since their birthdays are less than a month apart (May 17 and[Read more]
