Hello my friends!  It’s been a while!  We’ve been BUSY.  I haven’t done one of these in a while (see the last ones here, here, and here!), so to catch you up on what I’ve been up to, read what’s currently going on around here… Appreciating- these cooler temperatures, hallelujah!!  I love layers- jeans, leggings, sweaters, jackets, you name it.  I love having a fire in the fireplace and snuggling up with blankets on the couch.  After a LONG, HOT summer,[Read more]

The Sweet Spot of Parenting

Happy NOVEMBER! Can you even believe there’s only two months left in 2018??  Blows. My. Mind.  After 3 Trunk/Trick or Treats, 4 different costumes for 4 different occasions for each of the 3 kids, and 9,734 pieces of candy, I am happy to be through Halloween and on the other side!  I really do love Halloween; I have such fond memories of counting down the days to dressing up and going door to door in search of my favorite candies[Read more]

Back to School 2018

And here we are.  Back to school. Did we mark everything off our summer bucket list?  No.  But did we make the most of the summer break that we had?  We certainly made a valiant effort. All three kids started back to school yesterday, all at the same school, my beautiful babies.  Honestly, most days this summer I took for granted.  Late mornings, coffee in my pjs, snuggles on the sofa.  Sweet conversations and pressure-free bedtimes.  All summer long I thought,[Read more]

Happy Birthday, Brantley Girl!

Nine years ago today, we were blessed beyond belief as Miss Brantley Parrish entered this world and made me a mother.  She has grown and changed and challenges me daily, and I couldn’t possibly be more proud of her.  She is a natural born leader and a first-born through and through.  She is smart, loyal, helpful, creative, brave, independent, athletic, head-strong, respectful, stubborn, and challenging, and 100% just. like. me.  She makes crazy some days, but when I think about her[Read more]

To All the Moms on Mother’s Day

Ten years ago this weekend, I had the worst Mother’s Day of my life.  A month prior, I saw those two blue lines on a pregnancy test, and started plotting and planning about how my life was about to change with a new baby and motherhood looming.  Then all hopes and dreams were dashed in a sterile doctor’s office, as I saw the baby but heard no heartbeat.  And two days before Mother’s Day, 2008, I was in the hospital[Read more]

Friday Coffee Talk

Happy Friday, friends!  Isn’t it funny how even if you’ve had the week off school or even if it’s the summer, it always feels SO GOOD to know it’s Friday??!  That’s totally how I feel today.  AND the fact that I’m doing something a little different on the blog today!  Instead of writing a post about what’s been going on around here lately and what we’ve been up to, I made a video! So pretend like we’re sitting together, over coffee, and[Read more]

Homemade Elderberry Syrup

If you haven’t heard (or have been living in a cave), this year’s cold and flu season has been horrible.  Every single family we know has been affected in some way, shape, or form, and not just by bad colds, but the flu, upper respiratory infections, strep throat, or a terrible combination of a few!  Typically I am not a big germaphobe, but I have been trying really hard to keep our family healthy by taking vitamins, diffusing and applying[Read more]

Currently…

I haven’t written up a Currently post in a while (this one and this one were the last ones!)!  Here’s what’s currently on my mind and on my heart… Appreciating- The amazing Children’s Ministry staff at our church.  The kids LOVE going on Wednesdays and Sundays (and at minimum one of the three cries when we leave), and Gracie and Brantley just joined the Glee Club, which meets during our Sunday service (Ben’s not quite old enough yet).  So they are belting out their praise[Read more]

Valentine Ideas for the Kids

The kids always get super excited to pick out Valentines for their friends and classmates each year.  Of course, it stressed me out a bit, wanting to find something cute and unique, but not too expensive or labor-intensive!  So I Go straight to the source, and Pinterest never lets me down!  Here are some cute ideas that are a little bit different that we may or may not be using for our class Valentines this year: You’re a KOOL Valentine[Read more]

Scissorgate: 5 Years Later

Brantley and Grayson have been after me for a few weeks about getting their hair cut.  They both have extremely thick hair, and brushing the nests of knots out of their hair each morning is a chore that none of us enjoy.  So they have been lobbying for new short haircuts, and honestly, I was all for it.  I love getting a fresh, short cut every once in a while too (and actually, it’s been a long while, and I’m starting to get the[Read more]
