Kale Salad with Craisins and Blue Cheese

There is the cutest little sandwich shop in Downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia, where my parents live, called The Blue Ridge Grocery, where we have stopped to eat the past few times we have been in town.  They have the most delicious sandwiches (their classic Reuben and Smoked Salmon BLT are my faves), coffees, and baked goods, but they have a kale salad that I had last time we were there that has me hooked. I am not a huge kale fan, and[Read more]

Mommy and Me

They say that timing is everything, and I got the timing just right the other night on Facebook.  I was just browsing my news feed, as usual, and on one of my local moms boards was an offer from up and coming photographer Sydnea Lanfear, for a free Mommy and Me photo session for the use of the photos in promotional materials.  I jumped on that as fast as I could, replying, “YES!  Interested!!”  Free photos??!!  And with the focus on ME[Read more]

Meal Plan Monday

Hi Friends!  I hope you had a great weekend!  It was rainy (and rainy, and rainy, and rainy) here, but we had a fun weekend full of good family time.  I’m sharing my meals for the week today on Meal Plan Monday, and am pretty pumped about the dinners we’ll be eating this week! Taco Pizza This recipe from my old blog is a family favorite!  So simple, just a pizza crust, salsa instead of tomato sauce, taco beef, cheddar[Read more]

Friday Favorites: Spring Break

Last week was our first real Spring Break, with Brantley in school full-time, and MAN did we need it!  We had been running on fumes for a few weeks, and needed a break.  So we took advantage of our week off, and went on a few fun adventures.  For my Friday Favorites today, I’m sharing my favorite things from Spring Break 2015! Trip to Blue Ridge! Scott was headed to Indiana on Monday morning, so we headed out of town[Read more]

What I Wore Wednesday: Handmade Wardrobe

As much as I love to shop (which is a lot), I love to sew.  Children’s clothes are easy to sew because they don’t take much time, and don’t take up much fabric either.  The lines are also pretty simple, since kids are pretty much straight up and down, with few curves.   But women’s clothing can be intimidating sometimes.  Women are obviously much more curvy, and you can’t make a women’s dress out of a yard of fabric like[Read more]

Meal Plan Monday

After a fun Spring Break (which I will recap tomorrow :)), I am back with my weekly meal plan post!  Our last few weeks have been a little crazy, with Easter and traveling, and Scott being gone a lot, so we haven’t had typical planned out weekly menus for a while.  But I am anxious to get back to the plan, since it really does make things easier for me when dinnertime rolls around and it’s time for me to[Read more]

Easter 2015

We had a lovely, relaxing, and laid-back Easter this past weekend.  After the crazy week prior, it was nice to take it easy and just hang around the house, just the five of us, for the holiday. The Easter Bunny came!  I didn’t go crazy with the Easter baskets this year, and the girls got a Princess Barbie, a headband, and some candy.  Ben got Spiderman, a cute straw fedora, and candy.  Honestly, the kids played with the dolls, but[Read more]

Timeline of an Attempt to Take a Decent Easter Photo

I don’t know about you, but it takes me, on average, about 478 snapshots of my darling (but totally crazy) children before I actually get a decent one (maybe a *smidge* of an exaggeration, but it seriously feels that way).  Add an impatient husband, a week-long sugar high, and the promise of an impending tea party, and well, it’s pretty much impossible.  So here is exactly what happens, in order, as we tried to take an Easter photo yesterday… Try[Read more]

Friday Favorites

I knew this week was going to be busy, but WHOA!!  We had three Easter Egg Hunts, an Easter Party, I had a doctor’s appointment, a membership drive for my MOMS group, a checkup for Bennett, I mean, you name it and we did it this week.  I was in the car all day yesterday running around town and I am just BEAT today.  Thankfully, though, today is the first day of our SPRING BREAK!!  Whoo-hoo!  Probably haven’t been this[Read more]

What I Wore Wednesday

Finally, I took the time to assemble another WIWW post!  The weather, over the last few weeks, has been about as unpredictable and as varied as possible.  75 degrees and sunny one day, and 50 the next.  Not only is it totally frustrating, since I am so ready for warm weather (consistent warm weather), but it is so hard to know what to wear and how to dress the kids! I have been trying to dress myself and the kids in[Read more]
