Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a great weekend and were satisfied with the first episode of Game of Thrones Season 8, haha! Was anyone NOT watching? I really liked the fact that they reunited several key characters and went ahead and got some things out of the way. I guess with only 6 episodes in the final season, they have to go ahead and start tying up loose ends! I can’t wait to see how it all shakes out.
ANYWAY, I’m starting the week off right by focusing not on the mounds and mounds of work I have to do this week AND Easter prep, but instead on a few things I’m excited about this week! Here are a few things I’m looking forward to:
Holy Week Festivities Despite the torrential downpour and tornado warnings, we had a beautiful Palm Sunday service at church yesterday with an Easter Cantata and our sweet Glee Club kids choir performing as well. I couldn’t see Brantley, Gracie, and Ben since I was in the choir loft behind them, but listening to children sing sweet songs about Jesus just brings me to tears every. single. time. They did such an excellent job!! They have their full-fledged concert in May and I can’t wait. We have Good Friday services and then Easter Sunday services and the deeper and deeper I get into my faith, the more I love and appreciate the Lenten season. Such a big deal is made about Christmas (and rightfully so), but Easter is when God really fulfills his promises to us. And I’m so thankful we get to celebrate in our amazing church with my sweet family. And if you’re looking for somewhere to go to services on Easter morning, let me know!! We’d love for you to join us!!
Good Friday off! Surprise! I had no idea until I was browsing Facebook today that the kids have Good Friday off from school! Nicely done, Walton County! So we have a short week that I was not expecting which suits me just fine.
Ben’s Last Easter Egg Hunt We have had preschool and elementary school Easter egg hunts for the past 7 or 8 years now, and Ben’s kindergarten class has their egg hunt on Thursday. I am so looking forward to it, but so sad too, since it’s probably our last one! We’ll do our own in the backyard or at the park, but the last one at school means they really are growing up. Tears!!
Easter Menu Planning I know I am probably in the minority, but I really so like to meal plan. It gives me a chance try new recipes and look for new things that my family will like. But for occasions like Easter, we keep it pretty traditional and try to make old family favorites that everyone looks forward to. So what’s on the menu? I’m planning on Ham, Potato Salad, Macaroni and Cheese, Green Beans, Rolls, Deviled Eggs, Fruit Salad, and a Coconut Cake. I can’t WAIT!
Easter Shopping Number 1- I have not bought one single item for the kids Easter baskets. YIKES! And Number 2- I have not thought about, or sewed, or bought a single item of clothing to wear on Easter Sunday! DOUBLE YIKES! But instead of letting this stress me out (like it kind of is already and like it definitely has in the past), I’m going to think of it as something fun to look forward to this week! I really do not like filling the kids baskets with junk, so I had already been thinking of getting them an outfit, a pair of shoes, and maybe a new swimsuit along with a bit of candy. But for Easter Sunday outfits, I need to start thinking about that asap and head to the store! Though I’ll probably be up until all hours, sewing Easter dresses like every year for the past seven years, ha!
That’s all I’ve got for today! I hope you have a great Monday!
