January Favorites

Happy Friday and Happy February! As much as it felt like January would never end (doesn’t it seem like Christmas was six months ago??), I can’t believe we’re already a month into 2019! I typically share my weekly favorites on Fridays, and today I’m going to share some of my favorite things I’ve watched, worn, used, and eaten throughout the entire month!

Goose Creek Candles
With all our frigid temperatures as of late, I am obsessed with all things hygge right now- a fire in the fireplace, cozy sweaters, snuggly blankets, and candles burning ’round the clock. The good folks at Goose Creek Candles sent me a beautiful candle from their American Legacy Collection to try out, and y’all. It’s seriously the best candle I have ever smelled!! Not only is it gorgeous, in a blue cut-glass jar, but you take the lid off and that alone will fill the room with fragrance. I have it in my office for now, because I want to enjoy it all day while I’m working! Check out all their fragrances and options on their website!

J. Crew Moccasins
I got these slippers for Christmas and have been living in them pretty much since then. If I only have to take the kids to and from school through the day, I don’t ever take them off! They have a hard sole so they wear like shoes, but are soft, and cozy, and comfy with the shearling lining. I highly, highly receommend them (and they’re 25% off right now!)

You on Netflix
Have you watched You on Netflix yet?? It’s creepy and stalker-y and super good. It’s easy to binge since it’s only one season (and they’re working on season two!), and you want to keep watching and watching. Joe is a book store clerk who becomes obsessed with Beck, a graduate creative writing student. She is a horrible person and he just wants to love her… wait… what? If you watched Dexter and felt compassion for him, you might feel the same for Joe! I mean, yeah, he’s a stalker and a murderer, but MAN, he’s a good boyfriend, ha!

Chronological Bible
A few years ago, I made a resolution to read the entire Bible in a year. I printed out a guide, and pulled my Bible out each morning and read the passages for each day on the guide. I only made it through about April before I got too behind and abandoned my goal. But when I heard about the Chronological Bible, I wanted to try it out again! I thought it would be a lot easier to just pull out my Bible and read the scripture for each date, laid out in front of me, rather than flipping back and forth between verses, and I was right! I’ve kept up really well, reading a few verses every day. Even though I’m re-reading the chapters and verses I read a few years back, I’m happy to refresh my memory and go through it all again. Hoping I make it a daily habit and make it through the end of the year!

Skinny Southwest Dip
If you’re looking for a healthy Super Bowl snack for Sunday, this is it! I made this Skinny Southwest Dip earlier this month, and it’s so good, you wouldn’t even realize it’s not so bad for you. Not only is the dip not bad, but it really is just as good with carrots and celery as it is with chips. Definitely worth a shot!

Book Light
I finally bit the bullet and bought a book light so I don’t have to blind Scott every night with my cell phone flash light! Plus it was super awkward to have to lean my phone against my chin as I tried to read in bed! This book light clips to your book, and has a rechargable LED light with three levels of brightness. It works great and I don’t have to balance my phone against my chin anymore!

Conversations with a Killer: Ted Bundy Tapes
Whew. I am endlessly fascinated in the psychology of criminals and serial killers and have been since I was very young (super weird, but true!). Even so, this four-episode series was so unsettling and so creepy. Maybe since Ted Bundy seemed to be so charismatic, and handsome, and smart? He didn’t fit the mold of a typical serial killer? I was only 7 when he was executed, and so I wasn’t really familiar with all the details of the story. But Scott and I just could not look away from the screen during the fourth episode, it was so captivating. Definitely worth watching, but nightmare-inducing for sure.

That’s all I’ve got for today! We will be taking it easy this weekend- Brantley has softball observations (it’s almost that time again!), and I am planning on doing some more sewing and organizing! Whatever your plans, I hope you have a great weekend!
