Friday Favorites

TGIF, Friends! We made it through our first week back to school, and as usual, I am tired and ready for the weekend! But no rest for the weary- our downstairs has been in desperate need of a fresh coat of paint for a looooong time, and I’m going to start to tackle it myself this weekend! It’s quite an undertaking though, and the main reason it’s taken so long to get it done- our first floor has a very open floor plan, so it’s A LOT of painting. But I’m excited to get it done and have a nice, clean, brighter look in our den after living here almost eight years now!

So today I’m sharing some of my favorites from the past week. Maybe the first one has inspired me a bit to clean up the house get everything straightened out?? 🙂 Enjoy!

Tidying Up with Marie Kondo
ARE YOU WATCHING THIS?? I read Marie Kondo’s book when it came out a few years ago (actually, I don’t think I ever finished it), and was very inspired. I didn’t totally embrace the “Kon-Mari Method,” and still really don’t, but I think it makes a lot of sense and I have tried to clean the clutter out of rooms in bits and pieces as I’m able. The show is so great, and Marie is so precious!! If the first step wasn’t to get ALL YOUR CLOTHES OUT and put them all in a big pile to go through (I’d disappear for days!), I might take the leap. But simplifying and decluttering the house is on my list to get a hold of this year, and this show is enjoyable and inspiring!

Creamy Cauliflower Soup
I made this soup from Skinnytaste last night for dinner and it was such a hit that we ate it ALL, which is practically unheard of when I make soup! 99% of the time I make soup we have leftovers, but there was literally none left last night. It’s a very, very simple soup (5 ingredients!), and it’s healthy, smooth, and really, really tasty. All three kids ate ALL of theirs, and Brantley even requested that I make it again tonight! I’m not making it tonight, but I will definitely make it again soon. And I’ll double the recipe!

The Five-Minute Journal
I finally decided on a gratitude journal! I saw this Five-Minute Journal on Instagram, and decided it was exactly what I was looking for. It has a morning section to write what you’re grateful for, what could make the day go well, and daily affirmations, and then an evening section to write three great things that happened that day, and three things I could have done to make the day go better. I love that it focuses on gratitude, and taking responsibility for your happiness, and still keeps it short and sweet. I think it will be a great practice for every day.

Tortoiseshell Hoop Earrings
I LOVE these cute earrings!! These come in several colors, but I feel like the tortoise will be so versatile.

The Innocent Man
If you’re into true crime, you’ll love this series on Netflix. I read John Grisham’s book of the same title many years ago, as he chronicles this true story of two men convicted of a crime they didn’t commit. It’s right along the same lines as Making a Murderer, but there’s no question as to the guilt or innocence of these men. It’s tough to watch, and you feel so much for the families of the victims and also the accused. Definitely binge worthy and a must-watch!

That’s all I’ve got for today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
