What We’ve Been Watching + Weekly Meal Plan

Y’all know I love my TV.  And with the new fall TV on, THERE ARE SO MANY GOOD THINGS TO WATCH RIGHT NOW!! I don’t have enough hours in my days to keep up, but I do my best, ha!  Here are a few of my favorite things that I’m either currently watching or have watched recently:

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
I watched this while Scott was out of town last month, and it was SO GOOD!  It’s based on the best selling book, and if you liked Downton Abbey, you’ll probably like this movie since practically every actor from that show is in this movie!  It’s predictable, but in the very best way.  It’s so touching and lovely, and about a book club that brought and kept a group of people together during World War 2.  If you have a few hours to yourself over the weekend, it’s wonderful.  On Netflix.

Making a Murderer Season 2
We are convinced that Steven Avery is innocent!  And if I’m ever convicted of a crime I didn’t commit, you better believe I’ll be writing Kathleen Zellner day and night to take on my case!  We watched 4 episodes Sunday night and three more last night.  It’s so fascinating, and unbelievable how many things were missed in the first case, or weren’t addressed.  We’ll finish it by the weekend for sure!  Also on Netflix.

Y’ALL.  WHY HAVE I NOT BEEN WATCHING THIS SHOW FOR YEARS? I am 100% officially obsessed with this show, with Jamie and Claire, with the Scottish landscapes and the costumes, and the love story, and the history, and everything.  The fourth season premieres on November 4th and I am binging to get through the first three.  It’s intense and graphic, and can be hard to watch and painful and heart wrenching (I balled through a few episodes, TBH), but it is one of those shows that sticks with you and that you think about long after you’re done watching.  I actually had to take a bit of a break from it over the weekend because I was feeling a bit too involved and had to remind myself, “Amanda, these are not real people- it’s a TV SHOW!” #signsyoumayhaveabingewatchingproblem haha!  But still, it’s AMAZING.  Watch it.  You will not regret it.  I watch it with a Starz subscription through Amazon Prime.

This is Us
Duh.  Me and everyone else in the universe.  It’s just so good though.  And talk about crying through episodes… it’s as bad as Parenthood used to be!  We watch it on Hulu, and try to save up a few episodes to watch at a time.  Everyone on that show deserves an award for their acting, it’s just such a great ensemble!

I love the Gallaghers!!!  I binged the first 5 or 6 episodes a while back, and have watched each season in succession ever since.  They are dysfunctional.  They are crazy.  They are AMAZING!!  I watched older episodes with a Showtime subscription on Amazon Prime, and watch the new episodes on Hulu.

The Sinner
I’m not a huge Jessica Biel fan, but I listen to the podcast, My Favorite Murder, and they were raving about this show, and I thought, welp, what the heck.  And I’m so glad I watched the first season! Jessica Biel is a married mom who seemingly randomly stabs a man to death on the beach one afternoon.  Of course there’s SO much more to the story, and it’s quite a story that gets told.  Season two started a while back and I haven’t started it yet, but Bill Pullman is the detective in both seasons, and he is great, and so is Jessica Biel!  If you’re a true crime fan, it’s another good one.

We ran out of shows a few weeks back and decided to start watching Bosch on Amazon Prime and I love it!!  Harry Bosch is a cynical LA Detective and he’s a great character.  Definitely a show you can get your husband on board with.

What TV shows are you watching right now??  Anything I need to add to our list?
