Happy Monday, friends! I haven’t done a post like this in quite a while and thought I’d share the things I’m saying hello to on this overcast Monday…
Hello Quiet House
The kids are back in school today after a week off for mid-winter break. As much as I loved the break and time off with the kiddos, I am so glad to get back into our routine and get their schedules back to normal. My kids thrive on routine, and a few nights up too late and days without structure, and it gets a little crazy around here. But today the house is nice and quiet and I have time to miss them a bit before they come home from school.
Hello Farmer’s Market Finds
We took a trip to our favorite Dekalb Farmer’s Market on Saturday after Brantley’s morning softball practice. It’s one of our very favorite things to do, even to just get a cup of coffee and people watch! But we always get amazing produce, spices (the prices are CRAZY cheap), fish, and other treats, and always allow the kids to pick out one thing that looks interesting to them, something they really like, or something they’ve never eaten, to try out. They played it pretty safe this time- Brantley getting tangerines, Grayson getting chocolate chip cookies from the onsite bakery, and Bennett picking out a pineapple (“for pineapple-mango smoothies,” as he instructed me). Scott and I were looking for the perfect selection of ingredients for Saturday night’s dinner, and we hit the jackpot. He was craving a steak, and I really wanted scallops (my new absolute favorite thing to make), so we decided a surf and turf would be perfect! We grabbed some okra and mushrooms, and with our head of cabbage at home, we made Pan-Seared Steak and Scallops with Sauteed Mushrooms, Roasted Okra, and Roasted Cabbage Steaks with an Onion-Butter Sauce. OMG. It was delicious.
Hello Warmer Temps!
It was in the 70s all last week, and honestly, I wasn’t hating it. Hope it’s not too far off that we see it consistently!
Hello LOTS of new things for Magnolia Marketing Group
We started off 2018 with some BIG goals that we are already reaching. We launched our Bloom with Magnolia Marketing closed Facebook Group, have been blogging and creating MUCH more content MUCH more consistently, and are hiring again! We are searching for an intern/part-timer to help us out with managing accounts and analytics (contact me here if you’re interested or know of someone who might be!). We also have two more BIG announcements coming really soon. It’s exciting and rewarding to see all of our hard work come to fruition. And we’re only 2 months into the year! By the way…
OMG can you believe it will be March by the end of the week??? January was 3 years long, and February was like a week and a half. Grayson asks me every single day if it’s March yet, since that’s one month closer to her birthday in May, haha. I’m looking forward to March since this Thursday, March 1st, Scott and I are heading down to Savannah for a long weekend! He has another conference in our favorite city, and it worked out that I get to tag along again. Nana and Pop are being rock stars for us and are coming to the house to watch the kids for us, so that we’re able to get away for a fun weekend. Scott will be working a lot, of course, and so will I, but I’ll also be able to walk and shop on Broughton Street and visit the Paris Market, and eat plenty of oysters on the half-shell and shrimp cocktails with a glass of wine or five while I do it. Working for yourself has its perks!
Since we are headed to Savannah early Thursday morning, I have a shortened meal plan for the week! I can hardly wait to feast on all kinds of coastal goodness, but until then, here’s what we’ll be eating this week:
Sunday: Tilapia, Smashed Potatoes, and Zucchini with Onions and Mushrooms
Monday: Salad Pizza (really excited about this one)
Tuesday: Veggie Fried Rice with Broccoli, Zucchini, and Mushrooms and Egg Rolls
Wednesday: Chopped Salad with Sweet Potatoes and White Beans with French Bread
Thursday: Deliciousness in Savannah
Friday: More Deliciousness in Savannah
Saturday: Even MORE Deliciousness in Savannah!
I hope you have a wonderful Monday and a GREAT start to your week!
