Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend! We took it easy- did some laundry, tidied the house, took Brantley for her softball observation on Saturday, then returned back home for more relaxing. Sunday was super rainy and yucky, and as much as we were tempted to stay in bed, we made it to Sunday school and church. But that was as productive as I got- I took a pretty solid Sunday afternoon nap on the couch! Woke up to make dinner and share ice cream sundaes with the kids to finish off the weekend!
So, it is no big secret that I LOVE watching movies and TV. Once the kids go to bed, Scott and I take our places on the couch, grab our computers, and turn on whatever show we’re currently watching! And we have watched some really good ones lately (and I’ve watched a few on my own too!), and wanted to share some today!
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel This show about a housewife in the 50’s who discovers she has a knack for stand-up comedy is SOO GOOD! Rachel Brosnahan is so funny and perfect as Midge, but Tony Shalhoub as Midge’s father is so good!! Definitely a must-watch.
Peaky Blinders I’ve talked about this show before, but the fourth season was released in December, and OMG it’s amazing. Unlike a lot of shows that peak early, Peaky Blinders just seems to be getting better. PS- am I the only one that binges an English show and then begins thinking and almost speaking with a bit of a British accent? No? Just me??
Godless I am not a huge fan of westerns, but this one totally won me over! Plus, I mean, I love Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary from Downton Abbey), and with only 7 episodes, it’s definitely do-able in a weekend or a random day or two.
Glitch An Australian drama about some random folks that come back from the dead one night sounds super weird, but it’s addictive. I’d compare it to Black Mirror and it’s definitely another one worth checking out.
Thank You for Your Service This very intense movie about soldiers coming back from deployment and struggling with readjustment is not only a movie everyone should see, but it should also give everyone a lick in the pants to get our VA fixed and provide good, quality care and assistance to our veterans. Very powerful.
The Crown Probably my favorite show in recent history! It’s beautifully shot, the acting is just impeccable, and the storyline is completely consuming. Season 2 came out in December, and I watched it the very first week. Even if you’re not a complete anglophile like I am, you’ll not regret it.
Broadchurch ANOTHER British drama! A very dark, true-crime detective drama that I stayed up ridiculously late one night last week to finish. So good.
Alias Grace A dark story about a young housemaid who gets accused of murder in 19th century Canada. Only 6 episodes…I finished it in a day! Really good. Wishing it was more than just a limited series!
Stronger Last night we watched the movie about the Boston Marathon Bombing survivor that not only identified one of the bombers but also became a symbol of strength in Boston. It’s good and inspiring and definitely worth the watch!
Other good ones from recently:
Big Little Lies
What are your shows you’ve been watching lately? My “To watch” list is getting pretty slim, so I need some new options!
We are getting another Blue Apron box this week, and I’m so excited! The recipes in the last one were really good and made for a really quick and easy dinner prep. I think we’re going to try out Hello Fresh and Sunbasket too, but I’m looking forward to our Blue Apron box this week!

Tuesday- Tuscan Bean Soup with Garlic Bread
Wednesday- Baked Ditali with Creamy Tomato Sauce (Blue Apron Recipe shown above)
