I’m a few days (whoa, 10 days!) late with this, but I’m sharing my October Favorites today! We had a very full month, did a lot of fun things, and here are 6 of the highlights (and YES, a blanket is one of the highlights, haha!):
Clemson Game- Though it poured, and we had to leave in the first quarter, our first Clemson game with all five of us was certainly memorable! It was a really fun day, and the rain wasn’t even that bad (until we were really soaked). Definitely a favorite part of the month.
Roasted Brussels Sprouts Grain Bowl with Lemon-Tahini Dressing- One of my favorite dinners that I made this month was this Quinoa Bowl with Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Yellow Potatoes, Carrots, and a Lemon-Tahini Dressing. I am a HUGE fan of grain bowls and make one almost once a week. I love throwing roasted veggies in, and this one was particularly good.
Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng- I don’t take the time to read nearly as much as I ought to, but I love a good audiobook! I love Audible and listened to Everything I Never Told You this month and loved it. An easy “read,” sad, but very insightful. I’m so anxious to read her other book, Little Fires Everywhere.
Dirty John- Podcasts are right up there with audiobooks for me- I love them since I can listen and drive or work, or whatever. Dirty John is a new podcast and with only 6 episodes, it was quick and really good! If you like True Crime, you will love this.
Fleece Pom Pom Blanket from WalMart- We keep blankets slung over the sofa year-round because we are big-time sofa snugglers and this is one of our favorites! I picked it up because it’s only $7 and has the cute pom poms, but we fight over it constantly! It’s so soft, warm but not too hot, and I’m gonna have to go back and get one for everyone so I can make sure I don’t have to share, haha!
Halloween- And of course, Halloween was so much fun this year! The kids are old enough that they are super excited about trick or treating, and we can just hang back on the sidewalk while they run up to each house, ring the doorbell, say “trick or treat” (unprompted!), say thank you (also unprompted! #momwin), and head to the next house. It is really fun and not so much work. The kids actually discussed multiple costume theme options, but nothing really stuck, and they decided on their own costumes, which I think turned out really cute. The cutest little Darth, Cleopatra, and witch I ever did see!
That’s it for me today! The kids are actually out of school today in observance of Veteran’s Day, but unfortunately, I just came down with a cold, and am trying to rest and take it easy. But you know how that goes as a mom, ha! Hopefully I’ll be feeling better tomorrow, as we’re planning on heading to the Veteran’s Empowerment Organization (VEO) tomorrow to volunteer at a Veteran’s Day BBQ, and am really looking forward to it. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and are able to celebrate our country’s brave veterans tomorrow! See you Monday!
