Lutons Lately

I have been so busy that I feel like I haven’t shared much about what we’ve been doing lately!  So here’s what we’ve been up to:

We took the big girl out to lunch all by herself last week.  We took her to her favorite place (Chili’s- not our favorite though, haha) and got to have a little one on one (actually two on one, I guess) time with our oldest!  Doesn’t happen often!

I have been thinking about adjusting my skincare and beauty products to be all natural and good for our bodies.  So I was SUPER excited that Maple Holistics reached out to me to try their Tea Tree Oil Shampoo! And to be very honest, I absolutely LOVE it!  It boasts tea tree oil (melaleuca), lavender oil, and rosemary oil amongst its ingredients, and not only are the aromatherapy properties amazing in the shower, but it feels good, and my hair hasn’t looked better in months.  AND… my hair still looks good after a day or two post-wash!  Best part is that you can get a free sample and try it yourself!  Check out Maple Holistics’ free sample program and see what you think!

We went to the last Farmer’s Market of the season the weekend before last, and had so much fun.  Then they had a Fall Festival afterwards and had so much fun!  There were inflatables, a rock wall, laser tag, train, and more, and the kids had so much fun.

Have you heard of Instacart??  I know I’m late to the grocery pick-up/delivery game, but I’m weird and am one of the few that really love grocery shopping!  I like looking at all the new foods, and options, and varieties, and planning our weekly meals.  I was doing all our grocery shopping on Sunday after church, but after coming home from church, fixing and eating lunch, changing clothes, going shopping, and coming home, it was about time to start dinner!  Then my entire Sunday was pretty much shot, and I hadn’t had a moment to sit down for a break!  So I realized that just to save some time and give myself a break, I would try it out and order my groceries.  Enter Instacart!!!  Based on your zip code, there are grocery stores that you can order from, and an Instacart rep will go and DO YOUR SHOPPING FOR YOU, then DELIVER IT!!!!  All you have to do is place your online order, and it is delivered, and it can even be same day!  So I tried it out with our local Aldi (Aldi, Publix, and CVS were my options for Loganville).  I placed my order Sunday night and it was delivered Monday around 10:30 am.  It was AWESOME!!  It saved a ridiculous amount of time, and I am convinced that I’ll definitely use it on a regular basis.  You can use Instacart on occasion and pay a $10 delivery charge (first delivery is free, though!), or sign up for an annual membership that ends up costing only about $2.50 per delivery.  I would LOVE to see Kroger added, but Aldi will do for now, and whatever they don’t carry, I can make a super quick trip out to get.  And if you click here, you can get $10 off your first order, and free shipping!  It is certainly worth a try, and I’m looking forward to using it next week!

I mentioned it yesterday, but fall ball is over!  We all had a really fun time this season, but MAN was that a long season!   Ben and Grayson both played on really young teams and didn’t win much (or at all), but they had fun, improved so much, and still really love the sport.  Brantley really took to softball like a natural, and played so well all season.  Her team lost their playoff game by one run, and her season ended too.  But she can’t wait to play in the spring!  We had great seasons and had amazing coaches, and are looking forward to more baseball and softball in the future.  But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t ready for a break!

I have been taking my decluttering mission pretty seriously, and have made some progress!  I cleaned out my upper and lower kitchen cabinets and threw out 2 garbage bags full of CRAP.  Mismatched Tupperware, old plastic cups and plates, broken utensils, and other JUNK!  I cleaned out my spice cabinet and a few drawers too, but still have a ways to go.  I cleaned out my tops, blouses, and sweaters in my closet, but MAN do I have a long way to go there too!  But I have a huge stack of things to sell (Instasale coming soon!) and a HUUUUUGE stack of things to donate, so at least it’s a good start.  I’ve also been working on my bathroom and laundry room, and am just trying to make some progress as I go.  It is certainly a process, and sometimes I feel like I’m just not getting anywhere, but it’ll start making a difference soon.

Grayson celebrated the 50th day of 1st grade last Friday with 50’s Day!  The kids all dressed up, had a sock hop and ice cream sundaes.  She had a ball!!  I made her a little poodle skirt and matching scarf, and pulled the rest of her outfit from her closet.  All she wanted to do was twirl around and couldn’t wait to dance!  We were also so proud of Gracie because she surpassed the required number of sight words to learn and was able to attend the AR (accelerated reader) Drive-In, and got to watch a movie!  She struggled a bit last year learning her sight words, but with some practice, she has learned 150 new sight words already this quarter (the goal was 115!).   Reading has really clicked with her this year, and she loves to read to us every day after school.  After not meeting the requirements to attend an AR Drive-In last year, she was SO EXCITED to go to the first one this year.  We are SO proud of you, Gracie!!

I started a new online yoga workshop to get back into practice.  I used to practice yoga on a regular basis waaaaaay back before Brantley was born and we lived next door to the YMCA and I could pop in for classes on a regular basis.  There’s a new yoga studio that opened up in Monroe that I would love to join, but thought I ought to get reacclimated to the practice first.  This 21-day workshop from Daily Om gives you several different videos to watch and create your own personalized yoga session each day.  I did the first one this morning, and already remember how good yoga makes me feel- body, mind, and spirit!  I know it’s good for me and I know I enjoy it.  The hard part is actually taking the time out and DOING it.

I think that’s all I’ve got for today!  We have a BIG week ahead and a BIG week next week too, so I’ll have more to share soon!
