Hello Friends! I hope you had a wonderful three-day Labor Day Weekend! We were able to head out of town for the weekend, and have a *few* pics to share if you’re interested in that kind of thing…
Friday afternoon, we picked the kids up from school and wanted to do something a little different! We headed straight to Michael’s and let the kids pick out some craft kits and supplies for a little Friday night crafting. We hit up Stevi B’s Pizza Buffet for an early dinner (the first of MANY times we cheated on our diet over the weekend) and then headed home. The kids got out their craft kits- the girls got DIY lip balm kits, and Ben got a DIY shrinky-dink snow globe kit) and got to work! They had so much fun!
After all that Friday night fun, we were up and ready on Saturday morning to head out of town! We took off for BLue Ridge to spend the weekend with my parents, my brother and sister in law, and my niece and nephew. On our way, though, we dropped Scott off in Canton at my brother’s house, since he was going to the Alabama/FSU game with my dad and my brother on Saturday night! We left him there and headed up the additional hour to Blue Ridge.
We arrived and watched some football, ate a light lunch, and caught up with my mom! Then we headed into Blue Ridge (which was really busy because of the holiday weekend) for a little shopping and some Mexican for dinner.
We watched more football on Saturday night, and took it easy as the kids watched a movie and I chatted with my mom! Saturday morning we got up and got dressed, knowing that the rest of the crew would be coming up soon. And before long, everyone had arrived! We went on a Gator ride through the woods, made a delicious cheese tray for lunch, the kids played and played and played, and we all did more chatting, catching up, and re-watching all the games from Saturday!
These two were inseparable:
And Gracie just loved playing with William!
Gracie was a big help with dinner, which we enjoyed out on the deck. We had the most beautiful weather!
And then the kids enjoyed their ice cream sundaes out there too!
After dinner, the kids settled down for a movie before bed and the adults gathered their beverages and headed down the fire pit! It got pretty chilly, but with the fire and a light jacket, it was perfect. Fall is almost here, and this weekend was the perfect start!
On Monday morning, we took our time getting up and ready, and said all our goodbyes right before lunchtime. Always so sad!
We got home right before 3:00, and I tried to at least get us slightly unpacked, and get the laundry and dishes going so that we would be ready for our day back to school and to work tomorrow. I do all the laundry and folding, but now have the kids put away their own clothes. They do a great job! And MAN is it nice to not have to do one of my least favorite chores anymore, haha! Does it drive me a little bananas to see their drawers STUFFED with their clothes instead of nicely folded? Yeah. But enough to make me want to do it instead of them? Umm, nope, haha!
I just didn’t feel like going to the grocery store after all the chores I finished, so we just pieced together a dinner out of what we already had on hand. We had a zucchini, onion, and cabbage stir fry with rice, and after all the indulging we did over the weekend, it was the perfect light dinner. But I’ll be headed to the store today since now we are pretty much cleaned out!
We had a wonderful weekend with family, relaxing and getting ready to kick off our favorite season!
Since we were gone over the weekend and threw together dinner last night, I have a pretty short meal plan for the rest of the week. But here’s what we’ll be eating:
Tuesday- Black Bean Burgers and French Fries
Wednesday- Mushroom and Asparagus Risotto with Steamed Broccoli
Thursday- One Pot Mexican Quinoa Bowl (shown above) with Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Salsa, and Guacamole
Friday- Sauteed Kale, Roasted Carrots, Butter Beans, Sliced Tomatoes, and Corn
I hope you have a GREAT start to this short week!
