What I Wore Wednesday

I have a full week’s worth of outfits ready for this WIWW!  We are on the edge of springtime, and these 70 degree temps have been glorious!  Here’s what I wore this week…

I love cotton tunics when it starts getting warmer out.  They are easy to wear over jeans or with shorts, and are lightweight enough even to wear when it’s hot out.  I’ve had this one a few years now, and is still one of my favorites.

I cannot get enough knit swing dresses this time of year too!  This olive green one is sleeveless, which is perfect for right now with a light jacket, and then by itself later on when it gets really hot in the summertime.  They also make for great swim suit coverups!

Turquoise and Brown Tassel Necklace- Southern Sisters Boutique

Brown Fringe Ankle Boots- Target

I have been working on my Spring Handmade Closet List (hopefully next week!), and compiling all the pieces I want to make for myself this season.  I have been holding onto this great ivory cotton with metallic gold polka dots for so long, and decided a peplum t shirt was going to be perfect!  I used Grainline Studio’s Scout Tee pattern, and just added the peplum skirt myself.  Next time, I think I’ll cut the bodice of the t shirt a bit shorter, and make the ruffle a little longer, so that it hits me in the same place this one does, but the ruffle is actually a bit longer.  Does that make sense?  Either way, I do like how this one turned out and it’s a great tunic with jeans during this spring transition.

One of my favorite dresses I have made.  The Washi Dress pattern from Made by Rae is such a well fitting pattern, and I actually have two more cut ready to sew together for the summertime.  This one is in autumn colors, but such a lightweight cotton that it’s perfect for spring!

One more homemade outfit!  This Ruby pattern is another very quick and easy sew, and makes for a very laid back dress that you can wear belted, for more definition, or just loose to not constrict you if you eat an extra taco or three.  I usually wear it loose, haha!

Lace Up Coral Criss Cross Sandals- Dolce Vita from Zappos

Okay, I lied, this is the last homemade outfit!  I have been binge sewing easy tops just to kinda bust through my fabric stash (mainly so I can justify buying more fabric, haha!), and I looooove this one.  It’s hard to tell, but it’s aqua with little white arrows all over, and it’s perfect for spring.  I used the Cabin Tunic Pattern, which I made in flannel in the fall, but will definitely be making more this spring.

This was one of my very favorite dresses this past fall and winter.  I wore it a lot with tights or leggings, and a knit scarf and jacket.  Yesterday I wore it bare legged like this, and was actually too warm!  Striped Dresses are my love language, I am pretty sure.

And since the dress was a little warm, and I don’t typically like sitting on soccer fields in dresses, I changed into this for Brantley’s first soccer practice last night!  She’s playing in our church league, and did a great job.  I am so excited to see her play again this year!  I am also excited to make more of these shorts this year (sorry, I thought I was all done with me-makes for this post)!  They are so simple and basic, but I really like the way they look, and they fit me better than store bought shorts (damn you, thighs!!).  So here’s to soccer and custom made shorts!
