After a fun holiday weekend, we are saying hello to a brand new week (and month!)!
WOW…seriously cannot believe that we are in NOVEMBER already!! Pretty pumped about a month filled to the brim with football, family, fun, and my husband’s favorite holiday, Thanksgiving! But I do have to say that we finished October off with a bang!
Last Thursday was Bennett’s first, and Grayson’s last, Harvest Festival at their preschool. As always, it was precious, and so much fun to volunteer and participate with them. The crazy rainy that plagued us all week held off, so we had a cool and slightly overcast morning for the festival, which was perfect!
But the Harvest Festival was only the first of two fun events that day! Brantley’s elementary school hosted their annual Trunk or Treat for the kids to come trick or treat at the school track, enjoy fun activities, and eat hot dogs and cotton candy. 🙂 So, we got the kids all dressed up in their costumes and headed to the school!
This was the first year that all of the kids were VERY opinionated on their costume choices, and knew exactly what they wanted to be. No matter how much I tried, there was NO changing their minds, and no family costume theme this year! And despite my disappointment, I was actually pretty proud that they were so independent! Ben was a bat (I seriously have no idea why he wanted to be a bat or where it came from- “NOT Batman, mama, a BAT!”), Brantley was a black cat, and Grayson was Rapunzel.
Needless to say, the kids and I were WORN SLAP OUT when we got home! What a day! We took it easy on Friday, had an early night, and then were ready for the big day on Saturday!
Nana and Pop came to visit to spend Halloween with us!
The kids made a chocolate Halloween house, and loved spending time with Nana! It was also a great distraction as they waited to go Trick or Treating! And FINALLY after Clemson put the nail in NC State’s football coffin, we were off!
When we got back, the kids dumped out all their candy, and Brantley sorted and organized it just like the good little Type A first born that she is, Gracie divided hers up a bit too, and Bennett just started unwrapping and shoving it in his mouth! Haha! After they each had a few pieces each, we all enjoyed some yummy hot chocolate.
We had so much fun over Halloween, and the kids can hardly wait til next year! And I am loving all the extra chocolate around the house!
Hello Christmas Pajamas!
It is that time of year, and my first round of kids Christmas pajamas are going out in about two weeks! I learned two years ago, that the more I plan out the process of making the pajamas, and the more I do step by step, the better. I don’t order the fabric as I receive the orders, as I did my first year, but instead order it all at one time (or maybe two or three times, but in much larger orders, instead of lots and lots of small orders). Then, I cut all the pants at once. Then I sew them all up at once. Them I hem and add elastic to them all, then I make all the shirts, you get the idea. But it’s almost more of an assembly line, with me doing one task at a time. I learned last year that this works MUCH better, and I can ship all the pajamas out at one time instead of a few orders every day (for the most part). SO…I’ll be busy, busy in the next few weeks getting these complete and out in plenty of time. Not to mention the EXTRA PAJAMAS AND CORDUROY PANTS that I’ll be sewing up and listing on Instagram in a week or so, for a special holiday Instasale! Stay tuned for more info regarding the fun sale with TOOOOOONS of items!!
Hello New HAIR!
Soooooo…this happened the other day…
I decided that I didn’t want to cut my hair really short again (for now at least. I’m sure it’ll be happening again before long). BUT…if I was going to grow my hair out, I needed to do something about the color. Having a short and chic haircut with gray streaks was one thing, but long gray hair is just too much. Long gray hair is borderline hippy cat-lady, and that’s just not the look I am ready to go for at 33!! So, I bit the bullet, and got out the box color that I had been staring at every morning that I bought a month ago. You can probably see the change a bit in the photos posted above, but I’ll post some better pictures later this week. At first I was NOT so sure, but after a few days now, I think I like it? I hadn’t colored my hair since college, so it was a big change, but I really like that the gray is covered. I didn’t mind when I had a few gray hairs here and there, but it was getting pretty thick and VERY noticable. I like the dark brown and caramel now instead. So I’m not sure what I’m going to do from here on out, but it looks like I will be coloring it!
I am excited to be participating in a fun Instagram photo challenge for the month of November with Bimble and Pimble! It’s lots of sewing-related photos and topics, which I think is so cool, because I love seeing the behind the scenes stuff, and learning more about my favorite people on Instagram. So follow along with me @amanda_goatandlulu if you want to learn more about me and Goat & Lulu!
I think that’s it for today! Hope you have a great Monday! What are you saying hello to today?
