Hi Friends! Hope you had a wonderful weekend. Here are the things I am saying hello to on this lovely Monday…
Hello Walking Dead!
Did you watch last night??! It’s the last of my favorite fall shows to premiere, and I was pumped to sit down (after everyone, including Scott, went to bed) and watch. When I watched the very first show, years ago, I wasn’t sure I could even make it through, I was so scared! But the zombies hardly faze me anymore. So The Walking Dead is the last show to complete my fall tv repertoire which also includes The Affair and Homeland, Nashville, The Mindy Project, Chicago Fire and PD, Law and Order SVU, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, Grey’s, and I think that’s it?? Oh, and I started watching Quantico, a new show, and I like it pretty well too. Hope I can keep up with everything, haha!
Hello Yummy Fall Meals
With MORE rain over the weekend, we had serious cravings for some hearty fall comfort food. I made an incredible Bacon and Mushroom Chicken Pot Pie Friday night (pictured above and detailed tomorrow!), lots of tailgating yummies on Saturday as we were watching all the football games, and some Chicken Stew last night. I am loving all these recipes I’m seeing on Pinterest for roasted veggies, soups and stews and casseroles, and can’t wait to make some warm and satisfying dinners! French Onion Soup, Tex Mex casserole, and some spaghetti are on the menu plan for this week, but I need to add a few more before I hit the grocery store today.
Hello More #FallHandmadeCloset!
I cut up some plaid flannel on Saturday night and started making a few more shirts for my fall handmade wardrobe! I finished one last night, The Cabin Dress by Blueprints for Sewing, and can’t wait to share it! This challenge has been so much fun, and I have certainly added to my handmade garment collection, as well as added a few new techniques to my skill set. Now just to psych myself up to make some JEANS!
Hello Insight into the Future
Saturday morning was Brantley’s Homecoming festivities for her last football game (though it was rained out :(). All I could think, as her cute little football player escorted her through the gym, was that I can see this exact same thing happening ten years from now! These exact same pictures, in the not so far off future. I wish I could’ve gotten pictures of her from the front (my coaching duties were calling), but I Know she was all smiles! And is officially growing up too fast.
Hello Fall Arts and Crafts
Over the weekend the kids and I did our first fall craft of the season! I bought a box kit of Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats with the food coloring, frosting and molds all included. I mixed the treats, and the kids used the molds to make them into pumpkins and then decorate them. They had so much fun!
Just so you know…that’s black icing on Brantley’s teeth, her teeth don’t actually look like that, haha!
I found the kit at Wal Mart for about $7, and it had all the ingredients (except the 2 tablespoons of butter you need), and it made 6 treats. Which was just perfect for us, and is better that a whole pan full if you, perhaps, end up eating the whole pan once each child has had one…not that I know anything about that… 🙂
Then I went to the bathroom for about 2.5 seconds, and come back to Ben and Gracie sucking down every last bot of frosting that we had…
Because what fun is a clean and neat craft?!
