Through another week! Isn’t it funny that just making it to Friday nowadays, no matter how ragged and out of breath I am, seems to be a huge accomplishment! Everyone’s exhausted and cranky, the house is a mess, dinner ends up being frozen pizza or PBJ’s, but HALLELUJAH, at least the weekend is here. Here are five things from this week for your viewing pleasure… 🙂
The Anywhere Skirt
I just have to sew on the buttons, and then I have completed my first garment on my Fall Handmade Closet Wardrobe list!! I used the Anywhere Skirt pattern, from Dana Made It, and it was a quick and easy sew. If you have sewn a gather before, you can sew this skirt! I love that it’s very simple, but produces a very professional looking garment. Another great thing about this pattern, is it is very flattering! I have problems with gathered skirts sometimes, in that they add too much volume at the hips, but this skirt is (smartly) gathered in three different places, instead of all the way around, so that there are no gathers at the sides, and the skirt is able to lay smoothly over the hips. I can’t wait to wear this skirt now, while it’s still pretty warm, with striped t shirts and ballet flats, and then a little later on with a button up, vest, and boots. Now, onto my next Fall Handmade Closet selection!
Ben’s School Birthday Party
This little cutie had his birthday party at school yesterday, and it was a BIG hit.
Praying before their cupcakes…
Being crowned Birthday King by his teacher, and my dear friend, “Miss Ewwin (Erin)” 🙂
This picture melts my heart. Look at how he is looking at her! Ben just adores Ms. Erin!
The cupcakes that I brought in were a huge hit!! I actually remarked to Erin how good the kids were while they were eating them! All nine 2 and 3 year old in the class were quietly sitting in their seats, and eating their cupcakes pretty neatly! Nothing like I would’ve expected, but they were so sweet! It was so much fun sharing Ben’s first preschool birthday with him, especially since I am in such denial that he is turning THREE on Saturday. I have gotten teary several times this week. I just can’t believe that my baby is growing up and changing, and is just the sweetest little boy.
Christmas is Coming
I finally got my act together and ordered some of the Christmas fabrics that will become some of my annual Christmas Pajamas! They will go on sale next week, and will only be produced in limited numbers so that I can actually enjoy the holidays with my family this year, ha! If my summer break taught me anything, it is that everyone needs a break once in a while to spend time with family. Especially during the holidays. But they will be available through November 15th, and will ship on December 1st!
Just What I Need
Donuts are totally the new cupcakes. There is a new donut shop that opened in my favorite Kroger shopping center (only about 5 minutes from my house, yikes) called Rising Donuts, and I went in for the first time the other day. I have driven past it a bunch of times before, with the intentions of going in, but they had been closed because all their donuts were sold out! And when I finally got a chance to go in there (and without the kids!!!), I understood why. They have a beautiful array of donuts in delectable flavors that all smelled and looked amazing!
I tried the Maple Bacon donut, which was delicious. They are all handmade every morning, and taste so fresh. If this one wasn’t as big as my head, I would’ve had another!! They have a great coffee selection too (I had a Cinnamon Latte) to make the sweetest breakfast (or midday snack?!) around. And no, this is not sponsored or anything, I am just a huge fan and can’t wait to go back!! I mean, who doesn’t love good donuts AND local small businesses?! Much luck to Rising Donuts!
Happy Birthday to my Baby Boy
As I mentioned earlier, my Ben turns three on Saturday! I just can’t get over what a darling boy he has become, and I am so proud to be his mama. We are celebrating with a family trip to the Atlanta Zoo, and he couldn’t be more excited! And as per birthday tradition, I will be making his birthday cake in whatever flavor he requests (chocolate cake with chocolate frosting…my kinda boy!), and also making whatever he wants for dinner (he specifically said steak, macaroni and cheese, and green beans!). I’m planning on packing a backpack with his favorite snacks and drinks for the zoo, and maybe a few surprises. 🙂 All the kids are excited for his big day and our to the zoo to celebrate our favorite little boy. We adore our Bennett and are so blessed to have him in our family. We love you, Ben! Happy Birthday!
