I got myself together this week and was able to create a new What I Wore Wednesday post! The whole point of WIWW is to take pictures of outfits every day to encourage myself to get dressed and get going, and make the most out of the clothes in my closet. I have definitely been slacking this summer (but it is summer…), but I made it happen this week! So here’s what I wore…
This dress was pretty much the deal of the century. Have you tried thredUP?? It’s an upscale online consignment shop. You can send in your own clothes for consignment and receive a nice little check or online credit, or you can just shop in their online store FULL of name brand and gently worn or brand new items. I have done both- made a few bucks selling my clothes, and also bought a few great things too! This dress was one of the purchases, and such a deal!! It’s a Lilly Pulitzer dress that retailed for $250 and I got it for $32!!! Now, I am not a Lilly fan in that I just wear anything Lilly just because it’s Lilly, I have to legitimately like the dress/piece before I know what the label says. And I am obsessed with this dress. The bright lime color is perfect for summer (especially with a tan!), I love the beautiful embroidery, and the classic shift shape is very flattering. I’ve worn this to church and to Scott’s grandmother’s birthday party, and it’s equally cute with flat gold sandals or nude wedges. It will get a lot of wear this summer and summers to come, I hope, and for such a great price!

I mentioned a few days ago that I had been doing lots of selfish sewing, and this is one of the dresses that resulted! I LOVE the easy shift style of Rae Hoekstra’s Ruby Dress pattern. I have made three dresses and two tops now with the pattern, and it makes the perfect easy, relaxed dress or tunic for the summertime. I love that you can use the pattern to make the dress with two different fabrics (as seen in a few minutes :)), but I have wanted a simple denim shift for a while now, and knew this would be the perfect pattern. And, I LOVE IT. I can wear it on it’s own, with a scarf or belted, with flats or wedges, and can’t wait to wear it into the fall with a cardigan or my trusty camo jacket, with tights and boots. I made it with a lightweight denim so that it’s cool in the hot weather, and can easily be layered and not too heavy when it gets cold. It’s a great beginner women’s pattern if you’re looking to start some simple women’s apparel sewing projects, and sews up in less than an hour!

Cute Little Girl in the Teal Dress and big hairbow- My Gracie Girl! She is getting SO BIG!!!
I love wearing tunics and shorts during the summer, and found two beautiful embroidered linen tunics at Macy’s recently. I love the bright aqua color of this one and I am just a sucker for embroidery!! It’s so hot out lately that I needed to pair it with shorts, and think it will look equally cute with white jeans when it’s a bit cooler.

Here’s another version of Rae’s Ruby Dress, with two different fabrics and shortened as a top! I saw the floral fabric at the fabric store months ago, and grabbed what they had because I just loved it so much, but had no idea what I was going to make with it! When I realized that this top doesn’t take much fabric (for a woman’s pattern), I just knew that it would make such a bright and colorful top. I love it with the yellow quatrefoil, and can wear it with so many different bottoms. I paired it with some skinny jeans and orange wedges the other day and felt cheery all day!

Yes, another Ruby Dress! Like I said before, they make the perfect summer dress. They are roomy and not restricting, even belted! I made this one with some remnant chambray and the cutest white cotton bicycle print. It’s cute on it’s own, but I think it pulls it together a bit with a bright belt!

And last today, is this simple and relaxed outfit that I wore the other day, that made me feel like I was in my jammies all day!! These printed palazzo pants are SO soft and I paired them with a long white t shirt and some tassel necklaces. The pants are a little long on me (nothing new), so I wore my white platforms with them and they were perfect! Such an easy summer outfit for days that you just don’t have the time to shave your legs!
