My sweet Gracie girl turned four years old yesterday, and I can hardly believe it. Cliche, I know, but it seems like just yesterday that we were bringing our teeny little sweet Birdie home, and changing our family for the better.
I had big plans for the day, but unfortunately Gracie started running a fever late Friday night (most likely from the virus Bennett had last week), and had a febrile seizure early Sunday morning (her first one). So not only did she get spoiled on Sunday for her birthday, but she was extra spoiled since she was feeling so bad, poor girl. So, we ate cake for breakfast! My Gracie woke up saying that it was her birthday and she wanted her cake, so her cake is just what she got! She had requested a strawberry cake with strawberries on top, and that’s exactly what we had for breakfast yesterday.
We stayed home from church and snuggled on the sofa all morning, rotating motrin and tylenol every few hours to keep her fever at bay, which worked for the most part. She took a nap and I got a shower, and after lunch she felt well enough to go our for a bit to spend her birthday money that was burning a hole in her pocket. 🙂
She was also super pumped about the cheese puffs that we got, maybe even more than Ariel! We painted nails, and put on make up, snuggled some more, and as per our family birthday tradition, we ate whatever the birthday girl requests, which was “chicken, gween beans, and macawoni and cheese,” and that’s what we had. After ice cream sundaes and a family screening of Wall-E, my feverish girl fell asleep in my arms under a blanket.
She didn’t feel well, and it wasn’t what I had hoped for for my big girl, but her birthday was still full of love and family, and I think she felt special, getting showered with lots of attention. And what more can you ask for (well, maybe other than no fever)? 🙂
Happy Birthday to my beautiful Gracie girl. You make our lives so bright and we love you so very much!
