What I Wore Wednesday: Spring Dresses

I feel like we have really been blessed with an actual springtime season this year in Georgia.  We have had lots (and lots and lots) of rain, yes, but we have also had these lovely 65-75 degree days that are warm enough for bare legs or short sleeves, but necessitate a jacket or pair of jeans.  It seems like in recent years past, we only have about 2 weeks of springtime before winter morphs right into our typical hot, humid Georgia summer, so I am loving the mild weather we’ve had lately.  I have been taking advantage of the warmer days and wearing lots of dresses!  I about wore out all my jeans this winter, and have been ready to hang them up for a while, and don some spring frocks for a change!  So for today’s WIWW, here are the dresses I have been mommy-ing around in…

This little gray tank dress is going to be one of my favorites for the summer, I can tell already.  I found it while browsing TJ Maxx, and got it in gray and in navy and white striped.  It’s sleeveless and a swingy style, so it is so, SO comfortable, and will be nice and cool once it starts to get hot.  For a rainy day last week, I added my rainboots and jean jacket and was good to go.

I am always very picky about the length of my skirts and dresses, even though I’m short (5’3″).  This dress is shorter than I am used to, but I could not resist the beautiful navy floral print!  I will probably end up adding a small band of navy satin to the bottom of the skirt, or wearing one of those lace dress extenders with it so I feel more comfortable, but otherwise, I am obsessed with the style!  I love the faux-henley neckline and the sheer bell sleeves, and since I was showing so much leg, I wore a pair of peep-toe low wedges, and really loved the look.

One of my new favorites!  I snagged this one at the same time as the navy floral one from the cutest little dress shop in Blue Ridge.  The back has a pretty cut out at the shoulders, and I love the bright neons that come off softer since it’s such a delicate pattern and lightweight fabric.  I wore this to a family function in Aiken a few weeks ago and I was very comfortable.  And these nude platforms that I bought last year have turned out to be the BEST shoes!  A decent heel and they are super comfortable, and go with just about everything.  They will be on repeat.

Easter Sunday!  I love having the whole family coordinate, and so I blended in in my navy seersucker dress with a navy cardigan.  The dress is sleeveless and cotton, so it was easily dressed up with a cardigan and heels, and will also go casual this summer sans sweater and with sandals.  Another very versatile piece that can be worn now and later on.

I randomly wandered into a Cato store, and happened upon this adorable geometric dress on clearance!!  I have never even been in the store before, but they have so many cute things and so inexpensive!!!  This henley style is clearly one that speaks to me, since I keep buying it over and over, but I think it’s flattering and makes me feel comfortable, so I’m going to stick with it!  I thought the woven belt that came with it was even cute (I usually ditch them right away), so this made the perfect church outfit for last weekend.

And then yesterday!  I had to be up early to take breakfast to school for teacher appreciation day, take Brantley to school, take Grayson back to school, run a few errands, take Ben to the park, pick up Gracie, etc., etc., etc….I wanted something cute but very functional for a busy day, and this knit striped dress was perfect.  Striped dresses are my favorites, because layering them is fun and you can pattern mix for an interesting look.  I love the bright red stripe in this one, and loved it with my trusty camo jacket.  I added my red woven Toms ballet flats and was comfortable running errands, and at the park.  Pretty sure I’ll be buying this one in the other available colors too, since it’s just so versatile, and can be easily worn alone, or layered, with flats, sandals, rainboots or sneakers!  Perfect for moms looking for something simple to just grab, throw on and go.

So that’s it for me this week!!  Dresses are cute and feminine, but make getting dressed easy.  They are a one-piece outfit, but still make it simple to add on for warmth or just for fashion’s sake and fun!  And, as designer Rachel Roy says, “nobody can tell the circumference of your thighs when you’re wearing a dress!”  Reason enough to wear a dress for me!

I will be linking up with The Pleated Poppy for WIWW today!  Pop on over and join up, or just check out all the other blogs for amazing fashion and outfit inspiration!
