They say that timing is everything, and I got the timing just right the other night on Facebook. I was just browsing my news feed, as usual, and on one of my local moms boards was an offer from up and coming photographer Sydnea Lanfear, for a free Mommy and Me photo session for the use of the photos in promotional materials. I jumped on that as fast as I could, replying, “YES! Interested!!” Free photos??!! And with the focus on ME and the kids?!! I try my best to take pictures of myself with the kids when I can, but most of the time, I’m the one behind the camera. So have the focus on me and each of the kids, and for free??!! I was in. So luckily, I replied fast enough and we were chosen for the free session!
We met Sydnea in a local park between rain showers last week. We had actually discussed making the session a rainy theme, with umbrellas and rainboots and raincoats, since we were so afraid the weather wasn’t going to cooperate! But, we sure got lucky, again, we got the timing just right, and had comfortable weather and a beautiful evening!
I couldn’t have been happier with the way the pictures turned out, and though we had only known Sydnea for a total of about 20 minutes, she truly caught the sassy, curious, sweet, mischevious, and loving personalities of each of the kids. Pictures that I will certainly treasure. Just mommy and me.
Can you tell that this little girl was excited to have her picture taken?! Love that I had already made both Brantley and Grayson their Pretty Peasant Scallop Dresses so all I had to coordinate was mine and Ben’s outfits! I had made myself a new dress the day before (again, good timing!), and grabbed a simple white button up and khaki shorts for Ben!
I mean, that face.
My sweet Gracie Girl. Her sweet, timid smile and playful eyes.
My darling girl, who refused, despite my best tries, to let me move her headband up a little! Haha!
And my beautiful boy. My heart aches when I look at this picture because I just adore it so much. Those beautiful eyes and that sweet face!
And the photographs of me with each of my babies.
Honestly, this is probably one of my favorite pictures that I have ever taken. Sydnea made us feel so very comfortable, and this picture just came so naturally. Me and my biggest girl; the girl that made me a mama.
Gracie is such a snuggle bug, such a lover, that this shot of her nuzzling in and giving me a kiss is perfect. Again, so natural and it perfectly captures her sweet nature.
Me and my precious boy. I adore his bright, energetic spirit and you can see it in this photo. He is silly and funny and the apple of my eye.
Mama and her babies. I treasure this photograph and way it captures the kids right in this moment. Silly Brantley, Playful Ben, and Cautious Grayson, all very honest aspects of each of their personalities on display. I am so proud of each of them and so humbled every day by their love and the honor it is to be their mother.
I have been so, so blessed with three beautiful, healthy, and loving children, and I am so thankful for Sydnea for giving me the opportunity to have our photographs taken to document this point in our lives. Our day-to-day life is crazy and busy, and the children are growing and learning, just like I am as a mom. But my family- my husband and my children, are who I get up for in the morning, who I work hard for all day, and what I am most proud of in my life. I feel like these pictures capture the love that we all feel for each other, and the beautiful season of life that we’re in right now.
When I was little, one year my mom, brother and I surprised my Dad with pictures of the three of us for Father’s Day. Something that he could take with him while he was traveling, and remind him of what he was working for, and of the treasures that he had back at home. So not only was I getting pictures of me with my babies in this session, but I also am surprising Scott with these pictures as a thank you for all his hard work and to thank him for everything he does for our family. We simply would not and could not be where we are without him, and love him so much! So, surprise, honey! We love you!
Sydnea is extremely talented, and was a pleasure to work with. You can find her on Facebook here and here, and her photography website here. She will be taking more Mommy and Me mini sessions for Mother’s Day in May, and you should certainly take advantage of her if you’re local! And by the way, this post was not sponsored, or a requirement of the session, I just loved her and the shoot this much!
