Last week was our first real Spring Break, with Brantley in school full-time, and MAN did we need it! We had been running on fumes for a few weeks, and needed a break. So we took advantage of our week off, and went on a few fun adventures. For my Friday Favorites today, I’m sharing my favorite things from Spring Break 2015!
Trip to Blue Ridge!
Scott was headed to Indiana on Monday morning, so we headed out of town too! Not too far, though, we just headed two and a half hours north to my parents house in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Nothing like some quality time with Bammy and PaDaddy. And Aunt Beth and Sally Kate came up for the day too!
While Bammy and the kids played with play-doh, picnicked and played outside…
…PaDaddy took me and Beth out to lunch and shopping!
We had a fun afternoon out, and a wonderful visit, while the kids had a ball, playing outside with their cousin. It was a quick trip, but always fun!
On our way home from Blue Ridge, we went to Tanglewood Farms, which is a miniature animal petting zoo in Canton. As much as the kids love animals, I was pretty sure they would love it. And for the most part, they did!
When I said that they enjoyed it for the most part, the most part did not include the llamas! The kids were heading over pet the llamas, and were being very sweet, and moving slowly, and being respectful of the animals, but right as they were all reaching out to pet this llama, she spit, loudly, whatever she was chewing in her mouth, and scared the hell out of us!! I screamed, and Ben screamed and started crying as he ran as fast as he could towards me! It was so funny, but I’m pretty sure it scarred poor Ben!
See how far back he stayed from the cows?! Hahaha!
The kids loved this big, old farm dog that was so sweet and just let all the kids pet him and brush his fur!
We had a great time with all the animals, but especially with Bammy, Sally Kate, and Aunt Beth!
Making Pizza at Stevi B’s
Once we were back in town, we joined our MOMs club for a fun outing to Stevi B’s Pizza, for a tour and pizza-making lunch!
We did the same tour and lunch last summer, and it was so much fun that I knew we’d want to do it again. This time Ben was old enough to participate! The guy that did the tour for us was so nice, and SO patient with the gaggle of kiddos we had with us!
The kids got a pizza that they could top with a variety of toppings, however they wanted. For $5 they got their pizza and a drink, and mama only needed to get the salad bar for a great lunch! And then we still had plenty of pizza to take home to Daddy for lunch, and for dinner that night!
Super fun day and YUMMY pizza!
When I was little, every weekend, my Dad would wash the cars in the driveway. He would fill up big bucket with sudsy water, and with huge sponges he, and sometimes me and my brother, would scrub down the cars until they were nice and clean. We recreated this sweet memory over Spring Break this year, and the kids thought it was the best.thing.ever.
Gracie even asked me today if we could wash the car again this weekend! And Brantley asked if she could wash Daddy’s car! We might have to make this a weekly thing, like my Dad did back in the 80’s. Until they catch on, of course. 🙂
Trip to Aiken
And we rounded out our fun week with a trip to South Carolina for a family get together with the Lutons!
The kids always have so much fun with their cousins. They are all so close in age, that they are such wonderful playmates!
The girls brought down the house with a thrilling rendition of “Let it Go,” before we headed home! It was so nice to see family that we haven’t seen in a while, and catch up with everyone.
So, despite me intentions of having some down-time this spring break, we had very little! We stayed busy, but made some great memories, and had lots of fun. Here’s to a great spring break 2015!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and see you on Monday!
