What I Wore Wednesday: Spring Dresses

I feel like we have really been blessed with an actual springtime season this year in Georgia.  We have had lots (and lots and lots) of rain, yes, but we have also had these lovely 65-75 degree days that are warm enough for bare legs or short sleeves, but necessitate a jacket or pair of jeans.  It seems like in recent years past, we only have about 2 weeks of springtime before winter morphs right into our typical hot, humid[Read more]

Meal Plan Monday

Hello Friends!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and are ready to start out the week on the right foot.  We only have three weeks of school left (WHAT??!!), so that’s what I’m focusing on!  Only two more Mondays after today until summer!!  Anyway, on to the menu for the week… Spicy Grilled Chicken with Baja Black Beans and Rice I love a good one pot meal, and except for grilling the chicken, everything else is cooked in a[Read more]

TGIF!

Happy Friday!  It seems like as we count down to the end of school, each week is one doozy after another!  Scott was gone for a few nights, which wasn’t so bad, but on top of that, I had a horrible case of poison ivy (I KNOW, what??!) that I had to go to the doctor for, it was so unbearable.  I was put on a 14 day steriod and I literally went through 2 tubes of hydrocortisone cream to keep me from clawing[Read more]

Kale Salad with Craisins and Blue Cheese

There is the cutest little sandwich shop in Downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia, where my parents live, called The Blue Ridge Grocery, where we have stopped to eat the past few times we have been in town.  They have the most delicious sandwiches (their classic Reuben and Smoked Salmon BLT are my faves), coffees, and baked goods, but they have a kale salad that I had last time we were there that has me hooked. I am not a huge kale fan, and[Read more]

Mommy and Me

They say that timing is everything, and I got the timing just right the other night on Facebook.  I was just browsing my news feed, as usual, and on one of my local moms boards was an offer from up and coming photographer Sydnea Lanfear, for a free Mommy and Me photo session for the use of the photos in promotional materials.  I jumped on that as fast as I could, replying, “YES!  Interested!!”  Free photos??!!  And with the focus on ME[Read more]

Meal Plan Monday

Hi Friends!  I hope you had a great weekend!  It was rainy (and rainy, and rainy, and rainy) here, but we had a fun weekend full of good family time.  I’m sharing my meals for the week today on Meal Plan Monday, and am pretty pumped about the dinners we’ll be eating this week! Taco Pizza This recipe from my old blog is a family favorite!  So simple, just a pizza crust, salsa instead of tomato sauce, taco beef, cheddar[Read more]

Friday Favorites: Spring Break

Last week was our first real Spring Break, with Brantley in school full-time, and MAN did we need it!  We had been running on fumes for a few weeks, and needed a break.  So we took advantage of our week off, and went on a few fun adventures.  For my Friday Favorites today, I’m sharing my favorite things from Spring Break 2015! Trip to Blue Ridge! Scott was headed to Indiana on Monday morning, so we headed out of town[Read more]

What I Wore Wednesday: Handmade Wardrobe

As much as I love to shop (which is a lot), I love to sew.  Children’s clothes are easy to sew because they don’t take much time, and don’t take up much fabric either.  The lines are also pretty simple, since kids are pretty much straight up and down, with few curves.   But women’s clothing can be intimidating sometimes.  Women are obviously much more curvy, and you can’t make a women’s dress out of a yard of fabric like[Read more]

Meal Plan Monday

After a fun Spring Break (which I will recap tomorrow :)), I am back with my weekly meal plan post!  Our last few weeks have been a little crazy, with Easter and traveling, and Scott being gone a lot, so we haven’t had typical planned out weekly menus for a while.  But I am anxious to get back to the plan, since it really does make things easier for me when dinnertime rolls around and it’s time for me to[Read more]

Easter 2015

We had a lovely, relaxing, and laid-back Easter this past weekend.  After the crazy week prior, it was nice to take it easy and just hang around the house, just the five of us, for the holiday. The Easter Bunny came!  I didn’t go crazy with the Easter baskets this year, and the girls got a Princess Barbie, a headband, and some candy.  Ben got Spiderman, a cute straw fedora, and candy.  Honestly, the kids played with the dolls, but[Read more]
